A few weeks ago at the [CPAB meeting](http://blogdowntown.com/blog/2691) I met one of the managers of [The Edison](http://www.edisondowntown.com/). I asked him if I could come down during their off-hours and take some HDR photos. He agreed and here is the result: [![Generator and pressure tank](https://eecue.com/i/Generator-and-pressure-tank_29158_8ohd_l.jpg)](https://eecue.com/p/29158/Generator-and-pressure-tank.html) [![Pressure Tank](https://eecue.com/i/Pressure-Tank_29156_29tz_l.jpg)](https://eecue.com/p/29156/Pressure-Tank.html) [![Edison Furnace](https://eecue.com/i/Edison-Furnace_29154_bqa9_l.jpg)](https://eecue.com/p/29154/Edison-Furnace.html) The building that The Edison is in was the first building in Los Angeles with electricity. The power came from a very large oil furnace that is now a room in the lounge. As you can see from the photos above, the generators are still in the basement, although obviously they are no longer in operation. You can see some more photos on [blogging.la](http://blogging.la/archives/2007/06/the_edison_an_hdr_photo_essay.phtml) and in the [Edison Bar photo gallery here on eecue.com](http://eecue.com/images_archive/eecue-album-1470-1-Edison_Bar.html).
