Hydrogen-Alpha Sun: Solar Chromosphere in Stunning Detail

This exceptional Hydrogen-alpha solar image captures the Sun's chromosphere in remarkable detail using a Lunt LS60THa 500mm f/8.3 telescope paired with a ZWO ASI585MM monochrome camera. The image reveals a wealth of solar activity including dark filaments arcing across the disk, bright active regions (plage), and numerous solar prominences erupting from the limb in vivid red-orange. A 4-level HDR exposure ladder combined with lucky-imaging stacking and 2x drizzle processing has produced outstanding resolution and dynamic range, rendering both the delicate surface texture of the chromosphere and the fine structure of limb prominences simultaneously. Several sunspot groups are faintly visible as dark points amid the turbulent chromospheric material. The golden-amber color palette is characteristic of Hydrogen-alpha imagery processed to reveal maximum structural contrast in the solar atmosphere.
