Sunday, April 26th, 2026 at 10:40:03 PM · 2026/Yolo Bypass Wetlands
This photograph captures a male mallard duck in a wetland habitat, bent forward as it forages in shallow water surrounded by flooded grassland. The duck's distinctive features are clearly visible: the iridescent green head, chestnut-brown breast, gray body, and bright orange legs. The bird is photographed in profile, creating a mirror-like reflection in the calm water. The setting appears to be early spring or late winter, with stubble from previous vegetation poking through the shallow water and green grass beginning to emerge on the surrounding higher ground.
