Solar Chromosphere in Hydrogen-Alpha Light

This remarkable hydrogen-alpha image of the Sun was captured using a Lunt LS60THa 60mm f/8.3 telescope paired with a ZWO ASI585MM monochrome camera on a Sky-Watcher EQ6 tracking mount. The image reveals the solar chromosphere in extraordinary detail, including a dramatic large prominence erupting from the upper-left limb, multiple dark filaments snaking across the disk, and the textured granulation of the chromospheric surface. A multi-exposure HDR ladder technique combined with lucky-imaging stacking of the sharpest frames and 2x drizzle processing was employed to achieve this level of detail and dynamic range. The warm golden-amber tones result from false-color rendering of the narrow 656.3nm hydrogen-alpha emission wavelength, while the fiery red limb and prominences showcase the Sun's powerful and ever-changing magnetic activity.
