Milky Way Arcs Over Dark Lake Tahoe Sky

This wide-field astrophotography image captures the Milky Way galaxy's central band rising through a dark, star-filled sky above the Lake Tahoe region of the Sierra Nevada. The galactic core region is visible as a subtle, hazy luminous band running vertically through the center and upper right of the frame, surrounded by thousands of individual stars. A faint glow visible in the lower left portion of the image may indicate distant light pollution or atmospheric airglow from the surrounding mountain communities. The image has a dark, contemplative quality typical of deep-sky night photography from high-altitude, low-light-pollution locations. Shot with a wide-angle L-series lens at f/2.8, the image captures significant star field detail, though some noise and slight vignetting are evident at the corners.
