Shore Crab Perched Between Barnacle-Covered Rocks

A small, strikingly patterned shore crab is photographed at close range wedged between two barnacle and algae-covered rocks at a coastal tide pool. The crab's carapace displays a beautiful mosaic of black, green, and iridescent markings, while its claws are reddish-brown with cream-colored tips held raised in a defensive posture. The rocks are thickly colonized by barnacles and green algae, typical of an intertidal zone environment. The lower portion of the image shows blurred rushing or pooled water, adding depth and a sense of the dynamic marine habitat. The photograph was taken with a telephoto macro approach, isolating the crab sharply against a softly blurred background.
