Barn Swallows Nesting Under Wooden Structure at Yolo Bypass
Sunday, April 26th, 2026 at 10:46:25 PM · 2026/Yolo Bypass Wetlands
This photograph captures barn swallows at their mud nests constructed on the underside of a wooden beam structure. Two birds are visible with their distinctive dark wings and lighter underbellies, one appearing to enter or exit the nest. Multiple mud nests are visible attached to the wooden beams, showing the textured, rough surface characteristic of swallow nest construction. The image provides an intimate look at the nesting behavior of these aerial insectivores in their preferred man-made nesting sites. A metal pipe or pole is visible on the right side of the frame.
