A flock of approximately 15 brown pelicans flies in loose formation just above the surface of a turbulent, grey ocean under an overcast sky. The image was captured with a long telephoto lens (100-500mm with 2x extender), giving significant reach but resulting in noticeable motion blur as the birds were in flight. The sea is rough with visible whitecaps and swells, suggesting windy coastal conditions. The overall palette is monochromatic and moody — steel greys dominating both sky and water — creating a raw, elemental atmosphere typical of Pacific Coast weather.
