Sea Rocket Blooming in Coastal Sandy Habitat

A low-growing coastal plant, most likely sea rocket (Cakile edentula or Cakile maritima), spreads across coarse sandy beach substrate with small, pale lavender-pink four-petaled flowers characteristic of the Brassicaceae family. The succulent, lobed, and wavy-edged leaves are a bright blue-green, adapted to tolerate salt spray and sandy, nutrient-poor soils. The plant grows in a prostrate, sprawling mat close to the ground, a classic adaptation to coastal wind exposure. Several developing seed pods are visible among the foliage, suggesting the plant is in active bloom and fruiting simultaneously. The setting is clearly a sandy shoreline or coastal dune environment, with coarse mixed sand and fine gravel visible throughout the frame.
