Solar Chromosphere in Hydrogen-Alpha Light

This stunning hydrogen-alpha image of the Sun's chromosphere was captured using a Lunt LS60THa 60mm f/8.3 telescope at 500mm focal length paired with a ZWO ASI585MM monochrome camera on a Sky-Watcher EQ6 tracking mount. The image reveals extraordinary surface detail including dark filaments (plasma channels suspended in the corona), bright plage regions surrounding active sunspot areas, and the granular texture of the chromosphere. A large, vivid solar prominence is visible erupting from the upper-left limb of the Sun, with additional prominences visible at the bottom edge, appearing as reddish-orange plasma structures against the black sky. This multi-exposure HDR lucky-imaging stack with 2x drizzle processing showcases exceptional resolution and dynamic range, balancing the bright disk with the faint limb prominences simultaneously.
