Tiny Crab Hiding Beneath Rocky Beach Boulders

A small dark reddish-brown crab shelters in the narrow gap between two large coastal rocks, nestled on a bed of multicolored sand and pebbles typical of a rocky shoreline. The crab appears to be using the crevice as protective cover, a common defensive behavior observed during low tide conditions. The surrounding substrate is a beautiful mix of white, gray, brown, and rust-colored pebbles, characteristic of a glacially influenced or mixed-sediment beach. The photograph was taken at Schoolhouse Beach, known for its distinctive rounded limestone rocks and pebble shoreline. The shallow depth of field keeps the crab as the primary subject while the foreground and background rocks fall into a pleasing blur.
