Cedar Waxwings Perched in Winter Oak Branches
Sunday, January 18th, 2026 at 5:39:07 PM · 2026/Backyard Birding
Two Cedar Waxwings are captured perched on the slender branches of what appears to be an oak tree, identifiable by its distinctive lobed leaves. The birds display their characteristic sleek, brownish-grey plumage with subtle yellow accents. The photograph was taken against an overcast sky, creating a muted, naturalistic palette. The composition shows the birds at different heights within the sparse canopy, with one positioned higher and more centrally, while the other sits lower in the frame. The winter setting is evident from the sparse foliage and bare twigs scattered throughout the tree.
