Wildflower Persists Among Rocky Desert Hillside

This creative ground-level photograph was taken at Mt. Diablo State Park in the Juniper Canyon area, rotated or angled dramatically so that the rocky hillside runs diagonally across the frame. A small pink wildflower — likely a filaree or similar species — blooms defiantly among scattered stones and dried grass stems. The camera was positioned extremely close to the ground, creating a worm's-eye perspective that makes the rocky terrain appear to tower vertically against a soft blue sky. The left half of the image is dominated by hazy, overexposed sky with a dreamy purple-blue cast, while the right half reveals the sharp texture of sun-lit gravel, pebbles, and brittle vegetation. The long telephoto lens with 2x extender contributes to a compressed, shallow depth-of-field effect with soft bokeh transitions.
